Bids Our Sorrows Cease
Christ died to bring us into favor with God. It is one thing for a traitor to be pardoned and another thing to be made a favorite. Christ's blood is not only called sacrifice whereby God is appeased, but a propitiation whereby God becomes gracious and friendly to us. Christ is our mercy seat from which God gives answers of peace to us. Thomas Watson.
Ryan Bush:Oh my God, as your mercy only stays your judgment from falling upon us until now, so I humbly beseech you in the depths of your mercy in Jesus Christ that you will not deal with me according to what I deserve, but that you would freely and fully forgive me for all my sins and transgressions, and that you would wash them clean from me with the virtue of that most precious blood which your son, Jesus Christ, has shed for me. He alone is the physician, and his blood only is the medicine that can heal my sickness. Amen. Lewis Bayly
Ryan Bush:Jesus, the name that charms our fears, that bids our sorrows cease. 'Tis music in the sinner's ears, life and health and peace. He breaks the power of canceled sin. He sets the prisoners free. His blood can make the foulest clean. His blood availed for me. Look unto him, ye nation's own, for God, ye fallen race. Look and be saved through faith alone, Be justified by his grace. Charles Wesley.
