My Soul Asks
My soul asks, Lord, why wouldst thou go to such a place where Judas knew to find thee? Christ answers, that thou mightest know that I went as willingly to suffer for thy sin as ever thou wentest to any place to commit a sin. Lord, why would thou begin thy passion in a garden? Because there in a garden, thy sin took first beginning. Lord, why did thy 3 select disciples fall so fast asleep when thou beganst thy agony? To show thee, I alone wrought the work of thy redemption. Lord, why were there so many pits and snares laid for thee that I might make thee to escape all the snare of the ghostly hunter. Lord, why wouldst Thou be sold for 30 pieces of silver? That I might free thee from perpetual bondage. Lord, why didst thou pray with such strong crying and tears that I might quench the fury of God's justice which was so fiercely kindled against thee?
