Where Mercy Reigns
Oh, Lord, our God and heavenly Father, the only creator and governor of heaven and earth. I confess that I am unworthy to appear in your sight and presence considering my manifold sins which I have committed against heaven and before you. I know that you are the creator who has made me, my redeemer who has bought me with the blood of your only begotten son and my comforter who bestows upon me all the good and holy graces which I enjoy in my soul and body. If you should but deal with me as my wickedness and unthankfulness have deserved, what other thing might I expect from you but shame and confusion in this life and in the world to come, wrath and everlasting condemnation. Yet, oh Lord, I, Your poor servant, in the confidence which I have in my Savior, appeal to You from Your throne of justice, where I am justly lost and condemned, to Your throne of grace, where mercy reigns to pardon abounding sin. By the virtue of the precious blood of Jesus Christ, Your innocent lamb, I approach You, worship You, serve You, and love You. Amen. Lewis Bayly.
