Yet From There I Would Cry to You

Ryan Bush:

O Lord, I have transgressed all Your holy commandments, from the first to the last, from the greatest unto the least. And here I stand guilty before your judgment seat of all these breaches of all your laws, and therefore liable to your curse, and to all the miseries that justice can pour forth upon so cursed a creature? And where shall I go for deliverance from this misery? Angels blush at my rebellion and will not help me. Men are guilty of the same transgressions and cannot even help themselves. O Lord, I appeal to Your throne of grace, where mercy reigns to pardon abounding sins, and out of the depth of my misery, I will cry, like David, for the depth of Your mercies. Though You should kill me with affliction, so will I, like Job, put my trust in You. Though You should drown me in the sea of Your displeasure with Jonah, yet I will catch such hold on Your mercy seat that I will be taken up dead, clasping her with both hands. And though You should cast me into the bowels of hell, as Jonah into the belly of the well, yet from there I would cry to You, O God, the Father of heavens, O Jesus Christ, the Redeemer of the world, o Holy Ghost, my sanctifier, three Persons and one eternal God, have mercy upon me, a miserable sinner. Amen. Lewis Bayly.
